So does anyone have any theories as to what “sekai no flamingo” might mean?? It’s sort of been on my mind for a while now, and the only link to baseball I’ve managed to find is the now defunct Flamingo Field in Florida, which is pretty tenuous as far as connections go.
One idea I’ve kind of been vaguely entertaining is that Miyuki has international aspirations and hopes to make it into the MLB in America post-graduation instead of the Japanese professional leagues. This would also tie in with my headcanon that Miyuki is restless by nature, enjoys challenges, and fears becoming stagnant, which would explain why he chose to strike out on his own at Seidou rather than follow his former teammates to Inashiro Tech.
So… yeah. Thoughts?
